The Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition invites the public to participate in the making of the permanent memorial to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. The centerpiece of this participatory effort is the collective creation of a Ribbon, formed together from individual pieces of fabric, donated by the public. This Ribbon and the stories of the participants will be archived at the Kheel Center at Cornell University and its pattern and texture will be acid-etched to the steel of the memorial. It will be mounted on the facade of the Brown Building in Manhattan, where the fire took place March 25, 1911. The images and videos below were taken at FIT on March 16 and 17 2019, when hundreds of volunteers gathered to sew together a 300 foot long ribbon.
